- Open both hoods and identify the batteries, removing the plastic caps that cover the terminals.
- Check the positive and negative terminals on both vehicles and make sure that they are free of corrosion.
- Connect the red clamp to the positive terminal on the dead battery, then connect the other red clamp to the positive terminal on the working battery.
- Connect the black clamp to the negative terminal on the working battery, and attach the other black clamp to a metal surface on the dead car. Make sure the metal surface is not painted or covered.
- Start the engine of the vehicle with the working battery, then try to start the car with the dead battery.
